Singing app reviews & comparisons (2026)

Start here

I teach women who are coming back to singing after years away, and the question I get most is "which app should I use?" So I use them — properly, over weeks — and write up what each one actually trains, what it costs, and who it fits. No affiliate links, and when a rival app is the right answer for you, I say so.

Want a ranked shortlist rather than the full table? My guide to best singing apps ranks seven of them for women returning to singing after years away.

Which app should you start with?

If you mostly want to sing songs you love, start with Simply Sing. If you want drills that listen back, Sing Sharp will serve you better. If you want free tools in a browser — a range test, pitch games, a song database — Singing Carrots is the strongest free layer here, and it now has a free iOS app too. If you want a structured course taught on camera, that is 30 Day Singer. If you also play an instrument, Yousician’s bundle starts to make sense. And if you are coming back to singing after years away and want short, private practice built around where your voice is now, that is exactly who we are building Vocal Refresh for.

Every app in this table treats a returning singer as a beginner. That is the gap Vocal Refresh was built for.

Vocal Refresh is built for women returning to singing after years away: a short voice check finds your range today, then a five-to-twenty-minute session for that voice, private, no scores. Founding members pay $69.99 a year, held for three years. iOS at launch, free tier plus a 14-day trial.

How I test

I use each app hands-on across several weeks, in the same situation my students are in: an adult voice that has not sung seriously in a while. Facts about each product come from its own published pages and app-store listings, checked on the date in the line under the table. Where a vendor does not publish a price, I say so instead of guessing. No affiliate links anywhere in this section — nobody pays for placement, and a recommendation to use a competitor costs me nothing to make.
