- Warm up first. Five minutes in the routine builder is enough. A cold voice reads narrower than it is, and the top notes are the first to go quiet.
- Find your range. The range test if you can sing out loud where you are; the calculator if you already know your two notes or cannot make noise right now.
- See where that puts you. The chart shows your band against all six voice types, and you can hear each one.
- Then the finer questions. The passaggio finder tells you where your voice changes gear, and the pitch match test tells you how accurately you land on a note.
Treat every result as a snapshot of this week, not a verdict. A voice that has been quiet for years often measures as a lower voice type in week one and a clear mezzo a couple of months later, with nothing about the singer having changed except use.
Common questions
Do I need to make an account?
No. Every tool on this page runs without an account. The range test, pitch test, passaggio finder and voice type test offer to email you your result; that is optional and it is how you join the Vocal Refresh waitlist if you want to.
Is anything recorded?
No. The tools that use your microphone analyze the sound on your device as you sing and keep nothing. No audio is uploaded or stored.
Do the tools work on a phone?
Yes. They are built to run in Safari and Chrome on a phone. The microphone tools will ask for permission the first time; if you would rather not, the range test, passaggio finder and calculator all have a by-ear or type-your-notes option.
Are these tools only for women?
The coaching behind them is written for women returning to singing after years away, because that is who Vocal Refresh is for. The tools themselves handle the full range from bass to soprano.
