Cookie Policy
Last updated September 28, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how Vocal Refresh LLC ("Company," "we," "us," and "our") uses cookies and similar technologies when you visit our website at https://vocalrefresh.com ("Website"). It explains what these technologies are, why we use them, and how you can control them.
The short version
We set one cookie. It keeps our forms secure. We do not run advertising, retargeting or profiling cookies, we do not sell or share what we collect, and we do not show a cookie banner because nothing we place on your device requires your consent.
What are cookies?
Cookies are small data files that are placed on your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are widely used by website owners in order to make their websites work, or to work more efficiently, as well as to provide reporting information.
Cookies set by the website owner (in this case, Vocal Refresh LLC) are called "first-party cookies." Cookies set by parties other than the website owner are called "third-party cookies," and they can allow the party that sets them to recognize your device on other websites too. Every cookie on this Website is a first-party cookie.
Why do we use cookies?
For one reason only. The single cookie we set is required for technical reasons in order for our Website to operate, which is why it is called an "essential" or "strictly necessary" cookie. We do not use cookies to build a profile of you, to target advertising, or to follow you onto other websites.
Which cookies do we use?
Strictly necessary cookies
This is the only cookie we set. It is required for the Website to function and cannot be switched off. If you block it, forms on the Website may stop working.
Name: crumb · Purpose: Set by Squarespace to protect form submissions against cross-site request forgery. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: server cookie · Expires in: session
Non-essential cookies are restricted
Squarespace, the platform this Website runs on, can set first-party analytics cookies in the ss_ family, including ss_cvr, ss_cvt, ss_cid and ss_cvisit. We have turned those off. Non-essential cookies are set to Restricted in our Squarespace settings, so they are not placed on your device. Because nothing we place on your device requires consent, this Website does not show a cookie consent banner.
Squarespace still counts pageviews for us without using cookies, through JavaScript in the browser. Because the analytics cookies are restricted, that counting cannot link one page view to the next, so it produces a rough total rather than a picture of any individual. Squarespace publishes its own cookie list in its Cookie Policy.
Browser storage that is not a cookie
A few items are written to your browser’s storage rather than as cookies. Browser storage is not sent back to a server with every request the way a cookie is. Items in local storage stay until you clear them; items in session storage are gone when you close the tab.
Name: test · Purpose: Written by Squarespace to check whether your browser permits local storage. It holds no information about you. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: local storage · Expires in: persistent
Name: ml_guid · Purpose: Written by MailerLite, our email provider, when a waitlist sign-up form loads, so that the form can recognize your browser. · Provider: MailerLite · Type: local storage · Expires in: persistent
Name: vr_pending · Purpose: If a waitlist sign-up doesn’t go through, your email address is kept here so the sign-up can finish on your next visit. It’s removed as soon as that works. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: local storage · Expires in: when the sign-up goes through
Name: vr_entry · Purpose: Remembers the first page you visited on this website, so we know which pages lead people to join the waitlist. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: local storage · Expires in: persistent
Name: vr_exp029, vr_exp052, vr_exp056, vr_gate_ab · Purpose: Remember which version of a page you were shown when we try out different wording or layouts, so you see the same version each time you come back. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: local storage · Expires in: persistent
These are kept in session storage, for the current visit only:
Name: vr_s_entry · Purpose: Remembers the first page of this visit. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: session storage · Expires in: when you close the tab
Name: vr_ep · Purpose: Remembers which podcast episode link brought you here. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: session storage · Expires in: when you close the tab
Name: vtt_ok · Purpose: Keeps your voice type test result open for the rest of the visit after you join the waitlist. · Provider: vocalrefresh.com · Type: session storage · Expires in: when you close the tab
Analytics that does not use cookies
Our visitor statistics come from Plausible Analytics. Plausible runs without cookies and without storing anything in your browser. It does not use persistent identifiers, does not follow visitors between websites or devices, and processes its data in the European Union. You can read what it does and does not collect in the Plausible data policy. We previously used Google Analytics. It has been removed from the Website and no longer runs on any page.
Session replay
We record how some of our pages get used — scrolling, taps, which parts of the screen are reached and how long each step takes — so we can keep improving the experience.
It does not capture anything you type, or any text shown on the page. Every form field and every piece of on-screen text is masked before the recording leaves your browser, so a replay shows the shape of the page and what was touched, not words. No audio is recorded. Your voice is analysed on your device during the test and has never been sent anywhere.
Nothing is stored on your device. PostHog is configured to hold its session identifier in memory for the length of your visit. It writes no cookie and nothing to your browser’s storage, so it cannot recognise you on a later visit or on another website. If your browser sends a Do Not Track signal, nothing is recorded at all.
We delete the recordings once we have finished reviewing them. Questions, or if you would rather not be recorded: info@vocalrefresh.com.
Do you serve targeted advertising?
No. We do not place advertising, retargeting or profiling cookies or pixels on this Website, and we do not allow any third party to place them here.
Third parties on our Website
A small number of third-party services load on our pages. None of them serve advertising cookies.
Squarespace — the platform the Website runs on. It sets the crumb cookie listed above and counts pageviews without cookies. See the Squarespace Cookie Policy.
Plausible Analytics — cookieless visitor statistics. See the Plausible data policy.
MailerLite — the waitlist sign-up form and our email list. See the MailerLite privacy policy.
PostHog — session replay. See the PostHog privacy policy.
Better Business Bureau — the accreditation seal image shown in our footer.
What about web beacons and tracking pixels?
We do not use web beacons or tracking pixels on the Website itself. Our marketing emails, which are sent through MailerLite, may include a small image that tells us whether the email was opened and which links were clicked, so we know which emails are worth sending. You can prevent this by setting your email program not to load remote images, and you can unsubscribe from any email we send.
How can I control cookies?
Because this Website sets only one strictly necessary cookie, and places no analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, it does not show a cookie consent banner. You control the cookie described above through your browser.
The way you refuse or delete cookies varies from browser to browser, so check your browser's help menu. Instructions are published for the most popular browsers: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge and Opera. Most browsers also offer a private or incognito window, which discards cookies when you close it.
If you block all cookies you can still read the Website, but form submissions may fail, because the strictly necessary crumb cookie is what protects them.
How often will you update this Cookie Policy?
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time in order to reflect, for example, changes to the cookies we use or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. The date at the top of this Cookie Policy indicates when it was last updated.
Where can I get further information?
