Vocal Refresh FAQ

About Vocal Refresh

What is Vocal Refresh?

Vocal Refresh is a mobile app for finding your singing voice again. It pairs short vocal exercises with journaling prompts, so you're working on technique and on how singing actually feels for you. It's built for women with full schedules who want to sing again without anyone grading them.

Who is Vocal Refresh for?

Women who used to sing, and then life filled up. Maybe you stopped 5 years ago, maybe 25. Either way you're welcome here. There are no auditions and nobody's listening but you.

Do I need any singing experience to use the app?

No. If you sang in high school, in a choir, or just in the car with the windows up, that's enough. The app is built around getting reacquainted with your voice, not polishing it for anyone.

How is Vocal Refresh different from other vocal training apps?

Most vocal apps are built for people trying to get better. This one is built for women trying to get back. The exercises assume you have 10 minutes, not an hour. And the journaling is there because coming back to singing after a long gap stirs things up, and it helps to have somewhere to put that.

Using the app

How much time do I need each day?

Five to ten minutes. Vocal Refresh is meant to fit around your life. Do it with your morning coffee or right before bed. A short session most days will do more for you than a long one every few weeks.

What are the 5-minute vocal warmups like?

Each one is a guided session that wakes your voice up without wearing it out. You start with breathing, move through simple slides and patterns, and finish feeling more connected to your voice than when you started. They're written for beginners and you can do them anywhere you have a little privacy.

What is voice journaling?

Voice journaling is a set of written prompts about your singing. It gives you a place to notice what's happening, keep track of where you've been, and build some confidence along the way. A prompt might ask "What surprised you about your voice today?" or "When do you feel most free to sing?"

Do I need any equipment to use the app?

Just your phone and somewhere you feel okay making noise. Headphones help you hear yourself, but they're optional.

Can I use the app if I don't have a private space?

Many exercises work quietly or can be scaled down for shared spaces. That said, you'll get more out of them when you can actually let your voice out. Your car works. So does a walk, or the window when everyone else is out of the house.

Will the app work offline?

Yes. Download the warmups and you can use them without a connection. You can write journal entries anytime, and they'll sync once you're back online.

How do I track my progress?

The app tracks your streak, your completed warmups, and your journal entries. You'll get a nudge of encouragement along the way and a note when you hit a milestone.
